What is the MAC Pro Member program?

The MAC Pro & MAC Pro Student Membership programs are offered to professional MUAs (Make-Up Artists), Aestheticians, Cosmetologists, Hairstylists, Fashion Stylists, Nail Technicians, Costume Designers, Models, On-Air Talent/Performers, Photographers and Students of Make-up Artistry and Performing Arts. As a MAC Pro member you’re entitled to certain discounts and other fabulous benefits!

What discounts are offered to me as a MAC Pro member?

MAC Pro Member Make-up Artists are offered a discount of 40%, while Aestheticians, Cosmetologists, Hairstylists, Fashion Stylists, Nail Technicians, Costume Designers, Models, On-Air Talent/Performers, and Photographers can receive a 30% discount. MAC Pro Student Members receive a 20% discount. But remember to bring photo ID with you! Otherwise you may not get your discount!

What other benefits are offered?

I haven’t had the opportunity to attend any of the classes or pro-to-pro parties — the number of events at my local MAC Pro Store are pretty limited – so I’ll leave it to MAC Pro to describe them!

Master Classes:

Master Classes are workshop-type events offered to MAC Pro and MAC Pro Student members. According to MAC,

Master Classes offer makeup professionals the opportunity to participate in events designed to bring together the latest in trends, products, makeup and techniques. Master Classes help you further your skills while giving you the opportunity to interact with the top Artists in the industry. The events consist of makeup demonstration and explanation of application technique-theory. Classes are designed to give the participant a basic understanding of the topic presented.

Pro-to-Pro Party

Meet M·A·C Pro Senior Artists. Informative and informal. View the application of art-inspired body art in a live installation, as well as enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with other makeup artists, hair stylists, agents, models and performers. This is the ultimate networking occasion for members to share their ideas about the industry with M·A·C Artists and other members of the artist community.

How to become a member

To become a MAC Pro or Pro Student Member, you can download an application from the MAC Pro website or pick up an application from your local MAC store! You can fill out the application and drop it off to your local MAC Pro store, or via snail mail to:

BUT! You have to send in a few more docs than just your application!

For a MAC Pro Student membership, you have to include a photocopy of photo ID, along with proof of enrollment in a Make-up Artistry class or Performing Arts school. The school you attend also plays a part! MAC lists all eligible schools here. You can only become a MAC Pro Student member if your school is listed there! You also have to include a payment of $10 by cheque or credit card to cover the cost of your membership.

For a MAC Pro membership, it’s a bit trickier. You must include a copy of photo ID, but also professional documentation. That means business cards, letters of recommendation, a copy of your license, degree, certificate, etc.You also have to include a payment of $35 US to cover the cost of the membership.

How long does my membership last for?

MAC Pro Student memberships expire after 6 months, while the MAC Pro memberships can be renewed every year for $35.

I have to admit, I was so excited when my MAC Pro Student membership arrived in the mail! I did a little dance while my boyfriend laughed at me! There was one I had, however, when I applied for my application – and I wasn’t able to find it online…

How long does it take to receive my membership?

This was by far my most unanswered question. I checked the mail daily for my membership after I applied, and had no idea how long it would take to finally see my reply in the mail! So, I talked to the manager of my local MAC store and was told that most applications take between 4 to 8 weeks to receive your memberships. Mine took about 3 to 4 weeks, so I was pretty thrilled that I didn’t have to wait for 2 months! I can imagine, however, it depends where you are sending your membership from! If you’re sending it from Ontario, for example, I can imagine it would be faster than mailing from, say, California.

** Remember! You don’t have to be a PRO member to buy PRO products! You can still buy them at your local MAC Pro store, OR call the number listed on the MAC pro website! **
